What Are Terpenes? Terpenes are a large group of organic
chemicals produced by a variety of plants and even some insects. They
generally have strong flavors or aromas, and are often used by plants for
defense against the elements and predators. You may already be familiar with
certain terpenes such as Limonene – a citrus terpene found in many products
including food, and Pinene – a common pine scent, which is a prevalent
fragrance in many cleaning products. Some Terpenes are natural and steam
distilled, where others (often the cheaper ones) are produced synthetically in
a lab. Some terpene products can have added artificial flavors. If buying
natural, organic products is important to you, make sure to look for an
organic label on your terpene products to ensure they are not synthetic. How
do you use Terpenes? There are many different ways to use terpenes! Terpenes
are great for use in topicals and skincare products, and you can use larger
amounts of terpenes in topical mixes, but make sure to ask which terpenes work
best for your specific application. Terpenes can be used to make candles, and
be used in essential oil diffusers. You can also infuse your flower by
dampening (not too wet, just damp) a small piece of paper towel (1” x 1”), and
then adding 1-3 drops of terpenes to the dampened paper towel, and then add
that to your sealed container you store your flower in to give it a boost.
Terpenes can also flavor drinks (like homemade soda), and you only need 1-2
drops of terpenes per liter of liquid. They can really be applied to so many
applications, and have amazing benefits! Organic, Steam Distilled Terpenes
